Locki speaks out
We were happy enough with the 5 new screenshots this week.
Well... I say 'happy', I mean 'satisfied'. In the absence of a demo or the game itself, and if it is all we are going to get, it is definately a step up from being poked in the eye with a sharp stick, right?
But, just to tickle our QW tastebuds a little more; Paul 'Locki' Wedgwood stepped up to the cameras recently for a one-to-one with Gamernode.com.

QuakeWars release delayed
Yesterday, in a 'dev diary' submission to Gamespy, SplashDamage's head devloper and managing director, Paul 'Locki' Wedgwood confirmed the news many of us have been fearing. Enemy Territory: Quake Wars will NOT be released in 2006.
The release date has now been pushed beyond 2006, into 2007 with no official confirmation of exactly when we can expect to get our hands on a copy.

AvsB; a mod for QuakeWars
From the same team behind the conception of the Battlefield 1942 SilentHeroes mod, comes the announcement that - despite some serious hush surrounding the actual sourcecode itself - they are already working on getting the first mod for QW up and running.
The mod entitled: 'AvsB', bears little or no resemblance to QuakeWars itself, but read on, the concept is fairly interesting.

CVG get their 'hands-on' ETQW
New games are never easy (unless you count Pacman, but not many people do) but strangely enough, not many people are willing to admit to an absence of Pro-leetness when testing a new game.
Will Porter of computerandgames.com is perhaps one of the first to be truly honest about his experiences during a hands-on test of ETQW, which makes his testimony about the game itself even more believable.

Pre-order plans!
There have been penty of rumours surrounding pre-ordering, demos and release dates so far. All of them remained just far enough out of reach to torture us a little further every time.
But finally, the latest announcement seems to have been proved genuine. Various, select sites are offering the opportunity to pre-order your copy of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars now, with a few added bonuses.

Urban QuakeWars
Not happy to keep their attacks to the backwaters and byways, the Strogg are fearless in their quest for total domination and are even - it seems - prepared to brave those places most supertough humans fear to tred. That's right guys, the city!
It seems that nowhere is safe from the horde, even the Ghettos are scheduled on their World tour. But the GDF - as always - will be waiting for them!

A Demo for the QuakeCon?
Cruel joke or misinformation? Last month, PlanetQuake4 informed the public that they had exclusive information revealing that launch of a QuakeWars demo in time for QuakeCon 2006 in August.
The news quickly spread, causing some excitement for fans of the game before it was once again withdrawn by PlanetQuake4.

Let us entertain you
For all preview lovers, we have some extra footage to tease you with; complete with in-depth terrestrial and aerial vehicle views to give you an idea of just how it all works.
The scope of the game seems to be even greater than we at first imagined, causing some concern about system requirements. But, don't be too afraid, exaggerations are common, and as stated so many times before: if you could run Quake4 with a good FPS, you can run QuakeWars too. Keep your upgrades to a minimum; save your money for the game itself!
ET:QW runs smoothly on the Alienware units, which were obviously as powerful as possible. Good thing too, only an idiot would put a beautiful painting in an ugly frame.. and QW is certainly as pretty as a picture!

Quake Wars In-Game
Finally, a glimpse at the good stuff! An in-game preview of QuakeWars would not be complete with a chance to check out the action from both sides.
The game play differences between the human and Strogg teams are obvious and thrilling.
The technological advantages of the Strogg race or the heavy artillery and original facial features of the GDF; which one will you choose?

Facing the FiringSquad

Locki seems to have been incredibly generous with his time, giving insights into some of the more revolutionary aspects of QuakeWars. Including some interesting information on map development and textures.
