1 video interview and 3 new screens

Feeling nostalgic for the pre-beta days? A time when every short interview or small image was huge news, gobbled up by masses of marauding Quake fans?

Well, then this one's for you!

Gamesradar are now featuring a great interview with Locki and, while it doesn't contain any new information, it's a good chance to recap for some of the QW-news veterans and a handy catch-up for our newly-joined brethren.

Also accompanied by 3 new screenshots (2 of which hail from Ark and Refinery).

News from the Beta

It doesn't happen every day, but it is definitely worth hanging out on IRC channel #etqwbeta for the occasions when the developers take the time for an impromptu Q&A.

Another such occasion happened again very recently and a lot of useful information was released at the same time!

The first update will be rolled out some time next week and is set to include an auto-update feature, bot implementation (for more on the bots, read IGN's recent interview with John Dean ), server browser fixes and memory leak fixes and improved prediction.

Badman's Blog

In the wake of the beta launch, a few things are becoming clear: the launch (barring one or two small glitches) was a resounding success and it was even more popular than anyone could have predicted!

Valuable feedback is already rolling in from players around the world and enthusiasm, rather than fading, is growing daily.

Badman's latest blog sheds a lot more light on the astounding numbers involved in the Beta and just how they are managing to cope with the high player demands. He even manages to hint, teasingly, about future Beta updates.

If you are having problems playing the Beta, check out forumplanet for some of the bugs and fixes so far. And don't forget to hang out in the official Beta IRC channel at #etqwbeta or with us at #etqw for realtime help.

ET:QW Tournament at Quakecon 2007

Quakecon 2007 will take place this year from August the 2nd through to the 5th at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas.

Last year, Enemy Territory: Quakewars was still very much in it's infancy compared to the version of the game we see today in the numerous reviews and previews... but still managed to take QC 2006 by storm!

This year, ET: QW is sure to make another huge impact, making it's first large-scale tournament debut.

32 teams will battle it out in a 6v6 double elimination contest.

“For over 10 years gamers have debated who the best overall QUAKE player is, and this year we’re giving our competitors the chance to stake that claim in our world exclusive Quad Damage tournament,” said Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software. “We’re also giving teams the chance to be crowned the first ever Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars champions, and thanks to NVIDIA’s $100,000 total prize purse, the competition will be more intense than ever.”

Sewer: tactical notes

Now that the Public Beta is in full swing, more than a few clans are making full use of their advance opportunity to delve deeper into the tactical side of the Sewer map.

For those of us who are not fortunate enough to be playing along, and learning, with these soon-to-be-pro gamers; Bongoboy kindly took some time out from his own grueling regime to provide a tactical guide so we won't be left too far behind the rest!
